Followers of this blog know that I have been working on a quilt for over a year now called Choose to Bloom. One block is shown below. Choose to Bloom is a very large appliqué quilt based on a pattern by Kim McLean. I chose to use raw edge appliqué for this quilt rather than the more traditional needle turn appliqué. Why? Because I love raw edge applique. It is quick and the results are just as beautiful. I also like the fact that the thread choice adds to the overall design.
If you have never tried this method, I recommend the book Stitched Raw Edge Applique by Sue Nichols and Pat Holly. The directions are clear so you will be a pro in no time!
