Purple Resilience – My Breast Cancer Awareness Quilt

Purple Resilience, 22 x 40 inches, by O.V. Brantley, 2010. For sale at ovbrant.etsy.com

October is breast cancer awareness month. Have you had your mammogram this year?

Purple Resilience is a batik art quilt that measures 22 x 40 inches. Along the creative journey it turned into a breast cancer awareness quilt.

I learned of the death of Elizabeth Edwards while working on this quilt. I named the quilt after her book entitled Resilience that documents her struggle with breast cancer, but most of us know someone who has been stricken by breast cancer.

The fabric on the back of the quilt is one of the early breast cancer awareness fabrics. Appliquéd inspirational words and button embellishments complete the theme of the quilt. There is a hanging sleeve on the back of the quilt for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.
