A dream long deferred is finally coming true for me. When I bought my home in 1999, I chose the floor plan because the house had a walk-up attic rather than a basement. When I saw the attic, complete with sky lights and a window overlooking the neighborhood, I could just see myself making beautiful quilts in the clouds.
As often happens, life intervened and my dream was placed on hold. For over 10 years I made over 300 beautiful quilts in a corner of my bedroom. Finally, my dream will come true. This summer, I am turning my attic into the quilt studio of my dreams. I will have a place where everything has a place, and a place where my creativity can soar.
My general contractor is Ray Maynard. He is a wonderful contractor, but I must admit he was chosen for the job because he is married to Mary Maynard, a kindred quilter. Ray understands, without a lot of explanation, exactly what my needs are. It is almost like construction through telepathy.
I will keep you updated on my progress. I am having a wonderful summer full of quilt dreams. Send me your best storage suggestion for quilt supplies.
