A Small Vacation

Working to Wear My Bikini Again, 22 x 40 inches, by O.V. Brantley, 2010

I just returned from spending a few days at the beach on Hilton Head Island. I really needed the time away after a grueling three months of big firm law life.  India had just completed her freshman year at PITT and was home for a week. That gave me yet another reason to take some time off.

I convinced two of my best friends, Roz and June, to go with me. We took the young people along –India, Aja and Brittany– to add some spice to the vacation.

We did what any group of six women would do on vacation — shop, shop, shop! The beach was beautiful, the hot tub was hot, and we did our part  to save the sea turtles as they began their nesting season. A day trip to Savannah rounded out the trip.

Working to Wear My Bikini Again is a small quilt I thought of often while at the beach. It is listed for sale in my studio store.
