India’s Basketball Star Matriculates at the University of Pittsburgh

India's Basketball Star, 69 x 69 inches, by O.V. Brantley, 2010.

The second quilt that enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh with India is India’s Basketball Star. Basketball was a big part of India’s life while in high school at the Lovett School. She, along with the three other seniors who received similar quilts, received this quilt at the end of the season party.

At the University of Pittsburgh, India hopes to become a manager for the girls basketball team during her sophomore year. Basketball remains dear to her heart.

Maxine Moore did the embroidery and the quilting on this quilt.

My friend follows your blog and when she learned your daughter was attending PITT, she had to let me know. My daughter also attends PITT and is in her second year…and I am a quilter and in my 24th year as a probation officer. Thank you for your inspirations.

So nice to meet you! India lives in Lothrop Hall and I know she is on Facebook. I know it is a big school, but maybe their paths will cross.

It is always great to meet a fellow quilter. I hope you will check out the Clara Ford Foundation (www.clarafordfoundation.org) blog as well. It is the foundation I started to honor my grandmother’s quilts. I feature many talented quilters on that site. I will also add you to my mailing list so you can get our Start Your Week With a Quilt newsletter.

Stay in touch! I am sure I will write about PITT often.
