Not many people commission three quilts at once, but that is what Connie Marshall did to mark her 60th birthday. She wanted a quilt for herself and her two daughters Erika and Gina. These would be no ordinary quilts, however. These quilts would include special family fabrics — the dress Connie wore at her 50th birthday party, the dress Connie’s mother Ophelia wore at the party, and Ophelia’s well worn house coat.
Connie gave me the fabrics and left everything else up to me. What a creative challenge! Three special quilts for three special ladies that included three special fabrics.
Connie presented the quilts this week with her best friends on hand to witness the presentation. I know the quilts are destined to become treasured family heirlooms of the Marshall family.
