As a founding member of the Brown Sugar Stitchers Quilt Guild and Past President, I can hardly believe it has been 10 years since we began our journey together, but it has. The Guild will celebrate its 10th Anniversary July 17, 2010 at the Pecan Restaurant in College Park, Ga. at 11:00 a.m.
As part of its 10th anniversary celebration, the guild will honor the following honorees: Monica Pearson, news anchor, journalist; Pearl Cleage, author, playwright; John Lewis, Congressman; Reverend Cynthia L. Hale, pastor of Ray of Hope; and Dr. Evelyn Lavizzo, Executive Director of Carrie Steele Pitts Home.
Tickets are $50.00 per person and are still available. Details of how to purchase tickets can be found on the Guild’s website. The beautiful dolls shown here will be raffled to raise funds for guild programs. They were made by Martha Dudley and Mattie Eley
Sponsors for the event include Kiwi Quilts, the Georgia Quilt Show, McKenna Long & Aldridge, Atlanta Sewing Center, Emeraldjac Enterprises and the Clara Ford Foundation.
In addition to beautiful quilts presented bi-annually in a quilt show, the guild is known for its outstanding children’s programs and its annual donation of quilts to the Carrie Steele Pitts Home for Children. It has also brought countless hours of joy and creativity to its members.
