Honored to Make Sonja’s Legacy

Sonja's Legacy, 55 x 58 inches, by O.V. Brantley, 2009.

The Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA)commissioned me to make a quilt for its outgoing president Sonja Natasha Brown.  Fellow GABWA member Jamala McFadden revealed a few of Sonja’s favorite things, and her president’s message on the web site revealed her goals and aspirations for the organization. From this information, Sonja’s Legacy was born.

The front of the quilt is beautiful, but the back of the quilt is equally special. It contains pictures of various activities undertaken by the organization throughout the year, as well as a label that documents the quilt.

Sonja loved the quilt, and I loved making it.
