First Love, 26 x 26 inches, by O.V. Brantley, 2003.

This week my traveling trunk show A Life of Quilts — Lessons Learned from the Quilts of O.V. Brantley collaborates with the Threshing Floor Arts Academy for an after school presentation at  Bolton Academy. I will share some of India’s quilts with the kids and discuss the importance of quilts and quiltmaking. Hopefully, India will join me as a real life “stay in school role model.”

First Love was one of the first quilts I made for India when she had her first little crush. After all, every quilter has to make a Sun Bonnet Sue, right? Later I made this pattern for some older girls who were perplexed by the same question. They know who they are.
