How Many Quilts Were Lost in the Flood of 2009?

As I watched in awe at the aftermath of floods in Atlanta, I could not help but wonder how many quilts were lost in the flood. The floods revealed yet another reason why heirloom quilts are such treasures.

If you own a very old quilt as I do (I own eight of my grandmother’s quilts which you can view at the Clara Ford Foundation web site.), reflect on the things your quilt must  have survived to be here so many years later.

I am grateful that all of my quilts — including Clara’s Scrap Bag shown here — survived the flood of 2009.
