I have heard some artists say that friends and family are the last ones to accept your work. In other words they believe that you have to leave home to gain success.
I am eternally grateful that that has not been my experience. Most of my quilts have been purchased by people who know me. Many have been close friends and can now be placed in the category of “collector” because they own or have purchased more than one of my quilts. At my recent Open House, my friend Cecelia Hunter purchased six pieces, and her Christmas shopping was done. How awesome is that!
Such is the case with Awesome African Elephants in My Garden #1. It was recently purchased by my friend and collector Blanche Nichols.
There will be 12 quilts in the Awesome African Elephants in My Garden series when it is finished. As a collector of elephants, my creative desire was to create a series of quilts for people with quiet strength. So far, some pretty impressive people own these quilts.
If you are a person of quiet strength, you may be interested in Awesome African Elephants in my Garden #3, Awesome African Elephants in my Garden #6 and Awesome African Elephants in my Garden #7 which are offered for sale in my studio store.
I am currently working on #9.
