T-Shirt Quilts Preserve Precious Memories

India and horseThis week India is very close to heaven. She is in the North Georgia mountains serving as a counselor for the Atlanta Young Singers summer camp. She got the call to serve  unexpectedly after another counselor cancelled, and she was soooo excited.  India attended this camp many years as a young camper, and it had always been one of her dreams to be a counselor at the camp. Her memories of her time as a member of the Atlanta Young Singers are preserved in a quilt called AYSC Aliens.

She immediately went into action making her preparations for her team the Green Stallions. This necessitated a trip to ToysRUs in search of a stick horse for the mascot. (I have always been terrified of ToysRUs — all those toys stacked up to the ceiling is terrifying to a serious child like me). ToysRUs turned out to be a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I was surprised to see marbles and jacks. Who knew kids still played with anything that is not inside a computer?! And yes, we did find a stick horse who will later be dressed in green. Best of all, I spent a day with my teenager when she was happy, happy happy!

Go Green Stallions!!
