You Make Me Smile, 58 x 75 inches, by O.V. Brantley, 2009.
When I showed my newest quilt called You Make Me Smile at the Brown Sugar Stitchers guild meeting last month, everyone was suprised to see I had made a quilt with such bright colors. I tend to like taupes and earth tones, so I guess this quilt is a little different for me. But I think creative inspiration sort of follows your mood. You Make Me Smile is a happy quilt.
I love the way the bright flowers seem to dance across the front of the quilt. To me, they almost seem to be laughing. Although the picture doesn’t do it justice, the exquisite custom quilting was done by Ina Sanders, and it highlights the appliqué beautifully. This quilt will always be a part of my permanent collection.
I hope you have something in your life that makes you smile.
