Guess What I Did Last Night!

circus-elephant-croppedI went to the circus!  Not just any circus, the Universoul Circus! This circus is the African American version of Ringling Brothers. It was pure fun!

The music is a dynamic mixture of old school and new school with the audience often breaking out in song because we all knew the words to all the songs. The soul train line was hilarious. President Obama was weaved  into the script. The ringmaster was an elderly black woman complete with gloves and rolled down stockings who thought she had landed in church. (She had some mean dance moves and often lusted after young men. LOL). She was fabulous. In addition to these uniquely, authentic African American touches, the usual tigers, trapeze artists, magicians, clowns and, of course, elephants were all part of the show.

Being a Delta, I had to sneak a picture of an elephant. All Deltas collect elephants, but the best part of the night for me was that I was with my teenager — just the two of us out having fun. We danced in our seats. We sang out loud. We marveled at the magician and worried about the trapeze artists. We laughed until we cried.

We had a night to remember. How cool is that!
