Women of Color Attorneys , the brain child of Marian Dockery, is busy putting the finishing touches on its annual “Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys.” The goal of the institute is “to help women of color attoneys in law firms and legal departments develop the critical skills necessary to become partners and leaders in the legal profession; and assist law firms and legal departments retain and promote women of color attorneys.”
The conference will be held March 3-5, 2009 at the Downtown Atlanta Ritz Carlton Hotel, 181 Peachtree Street. Each year I donate a quilt to this organization which is auctioned to raise money for the scholarship fund. The organization grants scholarships to deserving women of color law students.
Last year’s quilt (shown below) was called The Lady is Lawyer. It went home with a judge from Chicago for the very generous price of $1800.00! I hope the organization will be as fortunate this year. I will unveil this year’s quilt soon. Stay tuned!
