Consider Contentment
Since you are seeing my cruise quilt Enchantment of the Seas this week instead of a basketball quilt, you probably figured out that the Lovett Lady Lions are out of the tournament. We were disappointed, but life goes on, right? We are on our way to the Bahamas, but that’s next week’s newsletter.
This week I spent a lot of time at a Leadership Conference sponsored by the Women of Color Attorneys. It was a great conference, and I learned a lot. My quilt Woman Warrior was auctioned and raised money for the scholarship fund for female law students of color. I ran into lots of old friends, and hanging out at the Ritz is always nice. However, the unexpected consequence of the conference is that it left me contented.
The point of the conference was to help women of color attorneys be more successful in the legal profession. A great emphasis was placed on becoming an equity partner in a very large man-dominated law firm or becoming General Counsel for a Fortune 500 company. After you achieved all of that, there were sessions to teach you how to “have it all” by being a great mother and wife, by managing your stress and by having perfect health!
After listening to the stories shared by the other women at the conference, I can truly say I am at peace with my life and my career. What about you? Are you happy with the choices you have made?
Until next week, consider contentment, and by all means, stay on the high road!
