Pat Yourself on the Back
“Get up and get going!” I said last week Well, I have certainly taken my own advice. My quilts and I have been on the road.
After much agonizing and self-doubt about whether anyone would really want to see my quilts, I created a trunk show called, A Life of Quilts — Lessons Learned From the Quilts of O.V. Brantley. Then I picked up the phone and arranged two bookings! It was one of the scariest things I have ever done. All the self doubt ever created in the entire universe seemed to land in the pit of my stomach. What if no one likes my quilts? What if no one shows up? Do people still throw tomatoes at artists they don’t like, or do they just boo? Maybe I should just cancel. Surely, it is better to keep my quilts tucked safely away in my closet.
